Notice of the 36th Annual General Meeting

Notice is hereby given that the 36th Annual General Meeting of the Ambulance Service Institute (Hong Kong Branch) will be held at 1815 hours on 17th April 2012 (Tuesday) at Grand Hall, Metroplis Harbour View Chinese Cuisine (景逸軒), Level 8, Harbour Plaza, Metropolis Hotel, 7 Metroplis Drive, Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong.

2. The agenda for the meeting is as follows:- i) To approve the minutes of the 35th AGM held on 27.5.2011; ii) To receive and adopt the 2011/2012 Annual Report from the Executive Committee; iii) To receive and adopt the Annual Account for 2011/2012; iv) To elect the Executive Committee members for 2012/2013 by secret ballot; v) To appoint an auditor for 2012/2013; & vi) To consider any resolutions that have been submitted in writing not less than 7 days prior to the AGM, and which have been properly proposed and seconded by members of the Institute. (The Annual Dinner will also be held at the same venue after the AGM. The details are to be announced in a separated notice.)

3. To facilitate necessary arrangement of the AGM, members are requested to complete and return the attached slip to Hon. Secretary, Mr. KWOK Kin-man, Henry c/o ACHQ on or before 3.4.2012.

Upgrading of Membership by Examination

In cooperation with ASI(UK), the following examinations will be conducted in Hong Kong for members of ASI(HK) in, tentatively, June 2012.

Examination (Assessment Structure)	Pre-requisite
Licentiate Diploma in Pre-hospital Care (3 Theory Papers and 1 Practical Assessment)	Open to all Student Members
Licentiate Diploma in Pre-hospital Care (3 Theory Papers and 1 Practical Assessment)	Holder of Licentiate Diploma; or Student members in possession of valid EMA II qualification

Members on probationary terms of employment are also eligible to sit for the examination.

2. Successful candidates in passing all papers in Licentiate and Associate Examinations can admit to Licentiate and Associate Gade of Membership Respectively. They are eligible to use the designatory letter of LASI or AASI. Certificates issued by the UK Office will also be awarded to the successful candidates.

3. According to DpI/II2.18, HKFSD recognizes the Licentiate Diploma and Associate Diploma as the equivalent alternative to the Senior Ambulance Certificate while the Associate Diploma is equivalent to the Ambulance Officer Certificate.

4. The fees for the examination to be held in June 2012 could not be determined yet as they would tie in tie with the number of candidates and hence the charges of HKEAA. A very rough estimeate at this stage indicates that it would be around HKD$3300 for LASI and HK$3500 for AASI. The fees for referral examinations would be significantly less than those of full examinations, and are expected to be in the order HK$2000.

5. In order to allow members to better understand the examinations and relevant information, a briefing session will be held for interested members:-
Date: 24.2.2012(Friday)
Time: 1830 to 2000 hours
Venue: Conference Room, 2/F, ACHQ

6. For arrangement of the venue, interested members who wish to attend the above briefing session to be held on 24.3.2012 ahould complete the reply slip below and return to the Hon. Secretary of ASI(HK) by 17 th February 2012.

7. To apply for and examination, please complete and return the appended registration form with the appropriate fees to the Hon. Secretary of ASI(HK) c/o Ambulance Command HQ by 26 the March 2012. Survey Form on Upgrading of Membership by Examination

Please be informed that we are making liaison with the UK Office to explore the feasibility of holding the next round of local examinations of LASI and AASI levels in Hong Kong, tentatively in June or July 2012.

(The Practical Paper will be conducted free of charge and the fees for re-sitting the papers are not yet available from the UK Office).

4. The Institute would like to assess how many members intend to take the examination. Visit to the Anatomy Museum, Hong Kong University

In order to allow our members to have more in-depth understanding on human bodies and enriches our knowledge in anatomy, the Institute arrange a visit to the Anatomy Museum of Department of Anatomy, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, The University of Hong Kong.

Date:             30.3.2010 (Wednesday)

Time:             1430 to 1700 hours

Venue:   Anatomy Museum, Department of Anatomy, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, University of Hong Kong.

Capacity:      16 persons

Parking:        Pay carpark is available nearby. 

Assembly:    To be confirmed by the Event Coordinator.
